MY TRIP TO TOKYO

Last month I finally found the time to go back home to Tokyo, Japan. Seeing my friends and family was amazing and I had such a blast!

My main focus for this trip was to focus on the fashion trends and go to many different stores I recently discovered that are only in Japan. I’m gonna tell you some great vintage/thrift stores I shopped at and several Japanese brands that are popular right now.. So keep reading!

RAG TAG

RAG TAG is one of my favorite stores ever! I’ve actually been shopping at this store for years and I always find gems. Its located in Harajuku and Shibuya, and if you’re looking for vintage/second hand luxury clothing and accessories – This is the perfect store to go to!

Its nothing like a regular thrift store.. they have only high end luxury brands such as Vivienne Westwood, Acne Studios, Prada, Maison Margiela… you name it! The store is organized by brands on each rack, so its very easy to shop when you’re looking for just one specific brand.

The price points aren’t bad at all – honestly so affordable especially for high end brands. I purchased a black knit Moschino Jeans tank top for ¥3,000 (about $30), Dior earrings for ¥3,000 (about $30), Rick Owens 2010 runway piece for ¥8,000 (about $80) and Opening Ceremony wide leg wool pants for ¥4,500 (about $45)! Now you can’t tell me thats NOT a steal. I also recommend if you go right when they open, you always find the best when you’re one of the first people in!

2ND STREET

2nd street is actually very similar to RAG TAG, but they carry brands that are more affordable so you won’t be seeing a lot of Maison Margiela, Balmain, or Balenciaga. But who knows – you might be lucky and find a few!

Whats so great about this store is that not only will you find high end brands that are popular all around the world, but you will also see Japanese brands that are popular in Japan and are high end quality brands such as United Arrows, BEAMS, Neighborhood, UNDERCOVER, and the list goes on. So if you are a tourist in Japan and want to discover Japanese brands but don’t want to spend too much money, 2nd Street is the place to go!

TO MY LA READERS: You don’t have to go to Japan to go to 2nd Street anymore! This store actually just recently opened on Melrose Avenue in the West Hollywood area! Whats amazing is that all the clothing in the LA store is straight from Japan so you’ll feel like you’re in Japan shopping for clothes! You can thank me later 🙂

HUMAN MADE

HUMAN MADE is a brand by NIGO – who is a Japanese designer that started the brand BATHING APE (Bape) and sold his brand in 2011. After that, NIGO became sort of a freelance designer and started HUMAN MADE. This store is actually a corner store in Harajuku’s mall called La Foret. (ラフォーレ) It was actually my first time going to the store and I was a little disappointed of how small it was because online they have so many clothes! But if you are a hypebeast and miss seeing Nigo’s work, HUMAN MADE is definitely one of the brands I would recommend you to check out. The pricing is definitely pricey but its worth it because of the quality of the clothing and Nigo’s designs are never boring. I personally love their graphic tee’s, its very Japanese and cute!

GINZA SIX

GINZA SIX is a huge mall full of high end designer brands such as Alexander McQueen, Y-3, Helmut Lang, Vivienne Westwood, MM6 (Maison Margiela) UNDERCOVER by Junya Watanabe, KENZO.. the list will go on. It was my first time going since it just recently opened in the spring time of 2017. Very clean and organized, and whats amazing for tourists that go there is most of the stores are TAX FREE! So just bring your US passport or wherever you are from and after you’re all done shopping, Hit up the Tax Free counter and get your money back! You can grab a map of the mall at the entrance of the mall, and can walk around each floor to the stores you want to go. The time I went, there was art pieces on the ceilings of the famous polka dot artist – Yayoi Kusama. The mall was filled with art and it felt good to be in a clean, organized mall with tons of brands I personally love.

Right when I got out of the building, I saw these 2 cute kittys on the Ginza 5th street sign right across the building! I’m not sure if the cats are always there, but its definitely something to look forward to when you are finished shopping and walking around the beautiful mall.

Well that was my list of places I have visited and I 100% recommend to hit up these places if you are looking to visit Japan anytime soon! And if you are a resident in Japan reading this, hope this helped you and you won’t regret going to these stores.

Comment below if you know any other good fashion stores in Tokyo!

Thank you for reading ♡ x
