Today I wanted to talk about my obsession with nail art. I’ve loved doing my nails since I was young, watching youtube videos on how to do nail art. I bought tools and did designs like polka dots, halloween nails, and my best work was smurf nails (took me 4-5 hours).
Over the years, I stopped doing nails on myself and started to get them done by professional nail artists. I started with acrylic nails, and now I am only doing gel – specifically Japanese gel. The reason why I stopped doing acrylic nail extensions is because it is so bad for your nails! Overtime they weaken your nail bed and dry out your nails/cuticles. Ever since I started doing hard gel/Japanese gel extension, I now have strong nails that I don’t even have to get extensions.

The 2 nail artists I’ve been going to are amazing! Emily has a shop called “Little Art Nails” in Culver City and only focuses on hard gel extensions. If you show her a specific nail design you want, she can honestly do anything you ask. Aki (@nails_aki) has her nail shop inside a hair salon called “Innovation” in Culver city as well. She focuses on Japanese gel & nail art. I have been going to her for the past 3 times since I prefer Japanese gel + my real nails over hard gel extensions.
