'nana-nana' Akira Art Wall Project Launch Party

Hey everyone!

Last Saturday I attended Nananana’s launch party for “AKIRA ART WALL PROJECT”. They have collaborated with Katsuhiro Otomo – artist for the legendary anime “Akira”, and Kosuke Kawamura – a famous collage artist from Japan that has lately been doing collaborations with other fashion brands.

“Akira” has been a classic and very well known around the world since the movie came out in 1988. It is a Japanese animated post-apocalyptic cyber punk film directed and written by Katsuhiro Otomo. This collaboration is extremely exciting for all the people that has loved this film.

There are 6 different colors. Each bag has different art from the film, and if you line up all bags in order it connects as Otomo’s mural for “Akira” which is also presented at the exhibition. It is a gigantic mural and super exciting to see in person. My favorite is definitely red and yellow from the bags – it has the best graphics.

Kosuke Kawamura’s paintings were scattered around in another room, all so interesting and beautiful to look at. They are actually on sale throughout the pop up/exhibition – starting from $2,500 going up to $10,000. He has also designed B6 bags and phone cases with Nananana, which utilize Kawamura’s go-to collage art form and features a utilitarian graphic print.

#OOTD

I went with a very Japanese look for the evening. I recently have been super into 1990’s Comme Des Garcons, and got my hands on this beautiful Comme Des Garcons 1990 long sleeve polka-dot print top that has an exaggerated tie upfront. I paired it with Comme Des Garcons 1991 black asymmetrical high waisted skirt. For my shoes, I went with Vivienne Westwood rocking horse golf platforms. A simple, yet fashionable black and white outfit – one of my favorites so far.

I hope you guys will go and visit the exhibition if you are in LA! It is going on until July 14th – at The Royale Projects located in DTLA.

Thank you for reading y’all! Till next time.

Keep on blooming. xx
