WHAT’S IN MY BAG

Hi everyone!

Today I want to show you guys what I carry in my bag daily. I try my best to keep my bag as neat and well-kept as possible, but I used to be the complete opposite.

I used to be the type of person to carry literally everything in my bag. Had months worth of receipts stuffed at the bottom, gum wrappers, old lip balm.. it was messy. I was really messy. Especially when I was in school my bag was disgusting to be quite honest. But growing up I learned that having a clean bag makes your daily activities and life neat and organized. Just like your household. My mom used to always tell me that having a clean house will bring good fortune and happiness into the home because you are constantly cleaning out the dirty, which by that it means bad luck and regrets you brought into the home. I think it’s something that asians do, but we always clean on New Years Eve so that we won’t have any bad luck and crap in our home into the New Year. I think about bags like that. If you are keeping dirty junk in your bag it doesn’t motivate you to stay clean and organized in your daily life.

Ever since I kept my belongings regulated, life felt more simple, clear and fresh. I tend to believe that any little change you do for your life brings less stress and more freedom. I am an over thinker and I stress way too easily so these kinds of small changes help mentally and psychically.

Now the first step is choosing which bag to use. Big bag, small bag, tote bag, shoulder bag, cross-body, fanny pack.. the list can go on. Since I am usually working 5 days out of the week and I carry a lot of stuff – I like to carry a big bag. I like bags that have an easy access to grab anything at anytime without a struggle. In this case my Chanel bag, Murakami & Vivienne totes bags, are my go-to. For the days I am running errands and I don’t need to carry lots of stuff I go with my Prada or Nananana cross-body bag. I love cross-body bags because I can use my hands without holding on to anything and just go on with my day. I probably sound super lazy right now but I love things that are convenient to my daily routines! Not lazy – just practical.  Lastly, every girl has a bag that only make an appearance at night or special occasions. Those bags are special, expensive, and a statement piece. My Louis Vuitton and Vivienne Westwood bags fall into that category.

Los Angeles is always sunny so sunglasses are a must-have in your bag. Compared to the Hawaii sun – here in LA the sunlight literally stings my eyes. I can’t even look directly at the sky without the burning sensation in my pupils! Semi-exaggerated, I know. Anyways – You definitely seen me post about Mario Badescu’s rose water spray before, but here we are again. I carry this around with me daily because my skin is very sensitive and dry so this helps me freshen up. Phone and earphones are a must – they will always and forever be in my bag.

During my trip back home to Hawai’i my mother gifted me her old Louis Vuitton. She gave me a matching Louis Vuitton wallet and key holder from the limited edition SS06 charms collection! I personally love big wallets because it’s easier to find in my bag. Having my keys all in one place helps me find it faster when I have lots of things in my big bag. Plus it’s so cute and I love it! My mini Prada pouch is also a gift from my mother – a long time ago. I used to use it for all of my Nintendo DS games when I was younger, and I recently found it and I was like “OMG Prada!” Haha, my mom didn’t really care for Prada which explains why she gave it to me at a very young age. Well, I like Prada so i’m very happy I get to use it for my hand cream, Glossier lip gloss, and lip balm. If you’re reading this mom – thank you!

Like I said in the beginning – I like to be organized. Every year I buy a cute calendar book from Japan. I write all of my upcoming appointments, bills, days I work, monthly goals, and any kind of plans I have for each day/month. Many people tell me “you have a smart phone with a calendar, why don’t you just use that?” True, I could. Sometimes I do, but I mostly write everything down. It helps me remember better to write by hand than type into my phone. Plus I love having cute Japanese things – especially stationary. Writing my schedule and goals help me feel more accomplished when it’s done. Looking back at a full month of activities makes me proud of myself. “Damn, I had a great/busy month.” To think that is a great feeling. Like I said, the smallest things change everything for me. I love it! I carry a separate notebook for whenever I want to doodle on the bus on my way to work or write blog ideas and such. I also like to take notes during work whenever I have an ongoing project. So it comes in handy! I always try to carry a book to read as well – it’s still a work in progress but i’m trying to stay off my phone and read books more. Right now i’m reading “This is Me Letting You Go” by Heidi Priebe for the 3rd time! I’m working on a separate blog post about love – so stay tuned. It’s definitely going to be a good one if i’m re-reading this book!

So that was what I carry in my bag daily! What do you guys carry? Do you keep your bag neat or messy? Comment below 🙂

Thank you for reading! Till next time – keep on blooming.
