The Importance Of Fashion

Fashion has become a big part of my life for the past 4 years now. I started obsessing over clothes and taking it more seriously about 2 years ago. So many people in this generation want to be involved in the fashion industry and honestly it is a tight space. Some people do it to feel included in the hype, others have the talent to see the art of it. And then there are people like me – who are very passionate about it and it truly makes them happy.

I believe that whenever you are feeling down or insecure and you dress in the clothes you like, it’ll immediately make you look and feel happier. Just like with make up – put on some mascara or blush and it makes you look and feel pretty (not that you already aren’t)! For me, it’s clothing and the art of fashion that has helped me through dark days and low self esteem. If you read my last post, acne has been a huge obstacle in my life that I’ve yet to overcome. It wasn’t until recently that I stopped caring about the weekly pimples that appear and the built up acne scars around my cheek. Ever since I started to figure out my style and gain more knowledge about the art of fashion, my mindset began to change. Especially when I started this blog. Every time I style myself and I wear the clothes I like, I feel beautiful. My makeup feels on point, my skin feels smooth like a babies butt, and my body looks great. My whole self esteem boosts when i’m in a good outfit. Of course there are still some bad days – sometimes I don’t want to get out of bed and just stay in my pj’s all day. I know some people that are constantly complaining with how bored their life is, or that they aren’t happy. But they don’t really try to change their appearance. They are constantly wearing the same outfit, hairstyle, no effort. Now this is just my opinion – but I think the reason why people get sad and bored is because they don’t put in the time, money, and effort into self care and clothes that make them look good and feel good. I know some people that tell me “I was having a bad morning, so I decided to put on some colorful clothes that I like and I felt so much better. Today is going to be a good day after all!” The thing is, fashion is transformative.  You can have different outfits for each mood. But the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and great in those individual fits. As long as you feel good about yourself in the clothes you chose to wear, great. Fashion is supposed to elevate your mood so if it’s doing the opposite – you gotta start putting in the effort.

“Buy less, choose well” – Is what the amazing Vivienne Westwood always says. Fashion is so powerful because it’s usually the first thing people look at (other than your face). Which is why I think the way you style your clothes is extremely important. What you can benefit from finding your style is that there are so many brands you can discover and can list out your options of what you like. Quality over quantity. You never want to have a closet full of clothes that you only “like”. I’m the type of person that wants to fill my closet up with the clothes I love! If you like designer and decide that’s your style, don’t be sad because you don’t have the funds for it and have to buy clothes that you’re only “okay” with. Save your money for it! Find good deals! Because you’ll be so happy once you get your hands on a piece of clothing that you love. This is why fashion is so important. That happiness you feel will be there every time you wear that piece. As you see, my closet isn’t full of different pieces because I enjoy designer. Other than that, i’ve been very picky and short on money. But I wear the pieces I love constantly because it makes me happy. I know I wear it often.. but it makes me feel good so who cares? You should feel the same too. Buy less, choose well. Listen to Vivienne (and me).

So basically what i’m trying to say is, if you aren’t the type of person that doesn’t really take fashion seriously – start. If you have insecurities about your skin, body, etc – change up your wardrobe. Even if i’m having terrible skin days and/or feeling down about other things in life, at least I look fly and I know people are admiring my outfit. I want you to start feeling the same. I promise, it’ll be worth it.

Thank you for reading y’all, keep on blooming.
