Hey everyone!
Have you guys been enjoying the runway shows so far? I think it’s going pretty great.
Yesterday, Virgil Abloh had his first show with Louis Vuitton designing for their menswear line. To be honest, when they announced he was going to be taking over after Kim Jones – I was very upset. Personally I don’t like Off-white because of how mainstream it is and I don’t really think they have nice clothing/designs. So hearing that Virgil was running LV mens I thought it was going to be complete crap – until I saw yesterdays show.

From the low expectations I was having – he did amazing. Truly amazing. I realized that LV mens line was unfortunately dying out until Kim Jones brought the Supreme collaboration in and people finally started to pay attention. By people I mean the younger generation. Now, Louis Vuitton has known to be very high end and never followed with other trends and stood their own ground of style for a very long time. But I believe they started to realize that isn’t going to work anymore. Balenciaga changed in so many ways throughout the past years by switching up to streetwear and they are everywhere and on everyone. People are starting to style “designer brands” with streetwear which seems to be the new trend. Rappers and young celebrities rocking designer brings more attention to each brand. Louis Vuitton needed Virgil for their marketing towards the young generation – which is a great marketing technique. And he did exactly what he should’ve done with the show! By also being the first black designer to ever design for Louis Vuitton – his show has made history.

I mostly liked the accessories from his show and the white, brown, and red looks. The neon seemed a little too Yeezy for me which I don’t like at all. I can say that was taking it too far and maybe he forgot he was designing for LV. But again – marketing. To people who adores Off-white and Yeezy they are definitely loving it.
Here are some looks I liked from the show:
